Why should I care ?

These are all long established popular events where you will find a good welcome. Some will have an evening event prior to the first day or the possibility of a meal afterwards:

If you would like a break from the British Winter, then Barcelona will give you a pleasant climate. Take care of your possessions in the tourist areas and don't carry all your cash and cards when out
The Cambridge tournament is named the Trigantius after a Jesuit monk who was the first to bring back information about Go from China, the venue is in the town centre close to the river Cam
After a long break, the Paris tournament is back in the city centre and so should attract more entries
The Amsterdam tournament is held at the European Go Cultural Centre in the nearby suburb Amstelveen, it is nice venue with a bar that serves food
Last year was the 10'th Kido Cup. The sponsor provides generous prizes and brings Korean Professionals. If you want you can sleep in the gymnasium for free, there is an interesting museum opposite the hauptbahnhof
This year the European Go Congress is being held in Brussels. It is the premier event of the European calendar, and lasts 2 weeks though you can register for a shorter period if you wish.

The above are just the author's personal choices, most are easy to reach from London. There are many other excellent events that I've not covered.
